Today, we further The Plague’s mission by launching the wagmireport.com . Our long term goal with The WAGMI Report is to turn it into a decentralized news service.
Until we reach full decentralization, The WAGMI Report will “fine tune” the process of compiling and delivering information, helping you escape the “echo chamber” that we all get trapped in while searching for NFT and Crypto news on Twitter. So as we build toward decentralization in the background, in the foreground our team will carefully curate the news to deliver you information that will better educate you as a consumer and investor.
A Phased Approach
The WAGMI Report won’t be decentralized at first. That part needs further planning and development work. Phase 1 will focus on decentralizing the influence of Twitter and NFT/Crypto Influencers.
The goal is to replace the news you see because Twitter wants you to see it, and to replace the narratives that Twitter influencers are pushing on the Crypto and NFT space. Neither Twitter nor the vast majority of NFT and Crypto influencers are delivering information and news that benefits you. They are delivering information and news that benefits themselves and their own bank accounts. The WAGMI report’s mission is to deliver information that benefits the consumer.
We will consider Phase 1 of the wagmireport.com a success if we can become the place where NFT and Crypto consumers go first to find out what is happening in the space. We believe we can save you hours of scrolling through Twitter while at the same time delivering you the information you actually need.
Of course Phase 1 only replaces the biases and incentives from one group (Twitter and Influencers) with the biases of our team. While we believe our intentions are pure, we also believe that people can and will be corrupted. No matter who they are. Thus our plan is to partially decentralize wagmireport.com in Phase 2 and fully decentralize it in Phase 3.
Imagine if we could actually decentralize the means of curating and delivering news using the blockchain, and in the process create an environment where YOU choose what news is right for you.
If we are able to create a system that does truly decentralize the news, then it will be a great test of one of the most important questions we face in Web3 , “Do People Really Want Decentralization?”
